Where were you born and where do you call home? I was born in Montana, and grew up in Alaska. I spent time in various states in the West, including Washington state and Colorado, before coming to live between Illinois and Iowa. But I've always felt that my true home is somewhere in the south, near the ocean, where the sand is white and the water is clear and blue, and that is where I'm working towards heading:)
What is the name of your most recent book and if you had to sum it up in 30 or less words, what would you say? The Fallen One, the first book of the series Sons of the Dark Mother.
An ancient race and a prophesy fortells of four dark princes, the sons of the dark mother, who will rise up with a nation of old vamps to stop the rogue factions from ruling over mankind. Justice is the first in that prophesy, from the ancient Jaguar People. He is the Prince of Fire. Jess is one of the three sisters of the Jaguar witches who must help him to stop these factions of rogue vamps--or none of their lives will ever be the same
If you gave some of your characters an opportunity to speak for themselves, what would they say?
It would probably be Dracon. And he'd probably ask why humans always think they're alone?
Do you have plans for a new book? Is this book part of a series? I have quite a few books coming out in 2012:)
I am working on a four part series:) The first one is due out in February or March 2012.

Fire Sprite, from the Realm of the Elemental Witch series.
Her mother is dead. They don't believe her step father, a black man, should raise a 15 year old white girl. So she decides to escape this time period through a portal into the past, when adults use to listen to children and people weren't so selfish and mean, but a Fire Sprite wants to show her what really use to happen to young girls 300 years ago, when adults would marry them off, and if people knew that she was seeing spirit beings, they would probably put her away. Her anger towards the grownups makes her so angry, she escapes through the portal anyway. Now, the only grownup who can save her, is the some man that some people want to protect her from.
The Triquetra Doorway, from the Realm of the Jaguar Witch series.

Now, the kids have decide they must stop him themselves to right their wrong and prove that they deserve to enter the armies of the four princes. They had been raised together. His sister had been her best friend. She had taught them to read and how to speak properly. They had lived the ideal life--for the times. But Jaden and Juliet were her father's slaves, and when he discovered their hidden friendships, he sold them both, leaving Jessica all alone.
Now, years later, her father has received them both back as part of his good friend's dying wish. Though cruel, her father honors his word, and he finds himself in a predicament. He cannot, in good conscience, sell them again, so he has forbidden Jessie to not set foot near them. Jessie wishes to honor her father's wishes--and yet, she misses her best friend. And when she's anywhere near Jaden--something else entirely moves within her breast.
Would you like to giveaway a copy of your book on this blog? Definitely! I can give away 5 digital copies of my new upcoming release!:)
How did you come up with the title and cover design? I love art. So book covers are kind of a fun break from writing:)
Patti says: Me too!
Patti says: Me too!
Have you based any of your characters on someone you know, or real events in your own life? No. Not really. They feel more like people I use to know, except for the series that is based on a true story.
Do you prefer ebooks, paperbacks or hardcover? Ebooks:) I can fit a whole library on one device:) I can change the font, change the size of the font, change the color of the font or even the background. I can change the lighting. And I don't have to worry about being allergic to the ink or the smell of the paper.
Plus, I can also buy a book, and within seconds, be reading it:)
Where do you prefer to buy your books? Amazon. Barnes and Noble has too many things wrong with their site. It's not as user friendly. They're my favorite bookstore offline, but not online.
Are you a self published (Indie) Author? Yes:) I have control over the book, the cover, the blurb and where I can sell it:) Self publishing has put the power back where it belongs, with the writer:)
Have you ever read a book more than once? Yes!
Are there any new Authors that have grasped your interest and why? Yes! Patti Roberts, Charlotte Blackwell, Reena Jacobs, Angel Haze, Samantha Young, C. A. Kuntz, and others. Because the write stories with heart. And heart is why we should be writing.
Patti Says: Why thank you!
Patti Says: Why thank you!
Is there anything you would change in your last book and why? in Doorway of the Triquetra, because I had just left an 11year relationship, and the grief was paralyzing, as much as the healing from all the trauma emotionally shattered me. I was fighting every single day to breathe. At the time, I knew it was stunting my writing, but it was saving my life, and so I went with what I had inside of me left to give.
Patti says: Similar story to mine!!!! Only that is why I started writing. It was great therapy.
