Meet Linda Darby - Box Set Series from David Bishop

SMASHWORDS

There are approximately one-hundred-and-sixty million women living in America. This is a story of just one woman. As the story unfolds Linda gradually learns that some people do deserve to die, but that she is not one of those people.

BOX SET 1
THE WOMAN. Linda Darby is a seven-year divorcee, living quietly in a small let-the-world-go-by beach town on the coast of Oregon, who day trades for a living. Her only close friend is a widowed elderly woman who manages a small consulting company, which, as is later discovered, never has visitors, sends and receives its business correspondence only by courier, and is not listed in any phone directory. No one in town knows what kind of consulting the company does, but the rumor is that whatever they do is done for the government. Linda doesn’t date local men. When her celibacy grows intolerable, she visits nearby towns to frequent the watering holes of successful men. Her motto: No relationships. No second dates. No use of her real name during one-night stands.
Then one evening, Linda goes for a walk and nothing for her is ever the same. She is dragged into an alley by two men, but saved by a third, a stranger who disappears as suddenly as he appeared.

HOMETOWN SECRETS. Memories are funny things. The way they quietly hang around. Linger. Waiting for something we see or hear, or an unexpected event to slam them forward into our consciousness. To strike us the way headlights assault a dark road. Some memories bring along a smile, others foreshadow danger and there are those which cry out for resolution. All of this is true for Linda Darby.
Linda wonders if she might again be lured into her first lover’s bed. As the pace quickens she does find love, along with friendship, fear, danger, and opportunity. Clashes of personality and conflicts between the agendas of the principal characters eventually coalesce in ways Linda never anticipated.

BOX SET 2

An assassination is planned in Syria.
An extramarital affair occurs in Washington, D.C. The U.S. President decides to run for re-election.

THE FIRST LADIES SECOND MAN. A mother and her daughter in Oregon are threatened. Relentlessly, Linda Darby and Ryan Testler are pulled toward these seemingly disparate events until their only way out is to confront what is quickly becoming unavoidable.

HEART STRIKE. The President of the United States assigns Ryan Testler a cloak-and-dagger mission to Europe in pursuit of support for his new doctrine dealing with the Middle East. Linda Darby accompanies Ryan to create the look of a couple of tourists. That cover story fails. Meanwhile, back in Washington, D.C., a lone terrorist, after four years as a sleeper, is activated. He wants to complete his sworn duty and make his family in Egypt proud. At the same time, his years in America as a sleeper has given him a different view of the country and its people. He struggles with this conflict as Ryan Testler leads the government's efforts to locate him before its too late.

About the author.
I was born in Washington, D.C. From there my life likely mirrored that of a lot of my readers. We moved around. I got some education. Played some sports, and got some more education. Prior to becoming a novelist, I worked as a financial analyst determining the value of companies. But let's talk about my current and final career, writing mystery novels.

As a writer, I conjure up occurrences designed to quickly bring the story to a roiling boil. Along the way, I invent people. Victims and villains and heroes are needed, as well as a supporting cast. I make these people fun and interesting so you will welcome them and introduce them to your friends. Primary characters need habits and tics and talents, the qualities that bring them to life and make you love them or hate them. You'll want to see them humiliated or hunted down, be successful or seduced.

My mysteries offer you the opportunity to be challenged to find the villain from among the suspects. Clues as large as a log or as tiny as a bump thereon are salted throughout the stories. There are distractions in the form of false clues, called red herrings, which point to someone other than the real villain.

Take a journey with me. Laugh. Hold your breath. Cheer. Boo. The characters are rich and the plots are grabbers. I promise that you'll be glad you came along. Some people don't like golf or chocolate or even a hearty laugh. But I'll bet you like some of those things and I'll bet you'll like my mysteries. Yours very truly, David Bishop

Questions can be directed to me at david@davidbishopbooks.com Each question will be answered by me. Each reply will also include a free preview of one of my recent novels. Thank you, David Bishop.

Bound by Love (A 'Bound Fantasy' Book 1) By S. E. Gilchrist

BOOK ONE:
Set in the ancient, pagan days where myths and magic existed side-by-side with the mortal world, comes Bound by Love, the first book in an erotic, historical romance series.

A kidnapped young fae woman looking for her mother. A demon warrior hell-bent on revenge. And a love that forges a bridge between two sworn enemies.

Whilst searching for the mortal mother who bore than abandoned her, Teelah, a pixie princess, becomes the unwitting pawn in a warrior's thirst for vengeance against her father.

Domhnall, a Fomorian from across the seas, is determined to bind his captive to him for eternity, thus dealing a bitter blow to his hated enemy. But Teelah's fearless stance and light-hearted spirit spark life into the black shell of his lonely heart. Now he hungers for more than her body.

With war looming and an enemy consumed with lust for power, will distrust and hatred destroy both their love and their lives?

BOOK TWO:
After trudging from battlefield to battlefield in the footsteps of the Fomorian army, Aileen is desperate to have a home far from the horrors of war. She will do anything to achieve her goals. Even lie to the kin and people of her newly deceased husband.

But lies are nothing compared to drugging a pixie king and stealing his memory...and his seed.

When Ioducus returns to the hill fort, Tranelleon, he discovers both a son he never knew he sired and forgotten memories of one wild night of ecstasy. Burning with a desire to teach Aileen a lesson she'll never forget, he soon realizes it is more than lust that drives him. Could this be the one woman who can lift his curse and gift him with true love?

But for one, lies are not so easily forgiven and Aileen may well lose everything she holds dear.

MUSINGS Box Set Author Interview with M W. Russell. The Transient book 1 in the Castle Trilogy

MUSINGS Box Set - 14 authors - valued at over $20 - pay only $1.99

Book Description from Amazon: The Transient – Book 1 The Castle Trilogy.
She never believed. Not in ghosts, not in friendship, and especially not in love.
When Melodie Gibson moves half way around the world to upstate New York, her entire world turns upside down. Living in a quirky castle turned bed and breakfast, she finds herself confronted with someone watching her every move. That someone is Joseph, who captivates Melodie's heart, fulfilling her dreams and drawing her into his world—a world that is beautiful, magical… and treacherous. It will take all the courage Melodie has to face those who will stop at nothing to rip them apart.
From the pages of a Victorian Gothic novel transplanted into modern times, The Transient is the first in The Castle Trilogy, a powerful fantasy romance series for teens.

What inspired you to start writing, and when?
I have played around with writing stories since I was a child, perpetually living in a world of fantasy. I spent hours sitting in our cherry blossom tree, completely hidden by the plumes reading from the pages of C.S. Lewis and the like, while scrawling down fantasies of my own. Once I had children of my own the need to share these grew, so when time finally allowed as they made their way into school, I began furiously throwing words down.

What is your preferred genre?
I’m a bit of a multi-genre soul. Although my first released book had its origins in the Paranormal, fantasy seems to rule, but swinging from fantasy romance for teens, paranormal romance for adults and more recently Medieval romance and Dragons.
How many books have you written?  If more than one, are any a series…or trilogy?
I have written five books – The Castle Trilogy and its older spin-off series, two from The Demonic series, while I’m in the midst of three others from unrelated story lines. Lion Hearts – A medieval romance and The Dragons of the Yew Maze as well as Victoria – A Mystery at Bancroft Hall.

Tell us a little about your book.
The Transient – Book 1 The Castle Trilogy was inspired by the death of my mother and my love of all things spiritual, ghostly and surreal. It involves the story of a young girl who along with her surf loving father move from Australia to New York State, take up residence in a bed and breakfast that is an old historic castle. Their new home proves to be filled with the unexplained and surprising – not the least a very attractive young man who puts Melodie’s entire world into a spin when he reveals he’s not quite of this world. It’s a story of magic, love and realms of beauty and intrigue with light and dark forces alike.

Do you have plans for a new book?
There are two more books in this series already published – Book 2: The Soul Keeper and Book3: The Darkest Angel.

Is there an Author that you would really like to meet?
Christopher Paolini of Eldest Fame or if he was still around C.S Lewis himself.

Was there an Author that inspired your writing?
Four really. Sorry, I can’t limit to one. C.S Lewis, Christopher Paolini, Stephen King and of course J.K. Rowling.

Did you have an editor edit your books?
Yes. I may be a writer but a polished work requires the expertise of an accomplished Editor who thoroughly understands you and  your work. I am lucky enough to work with Kathy La Vergne in the US from Wordlink USA.

Do you prefer ebooks, paperbacks or hardcover?
Paper, paper, paper – speaking as a reader, not a writer. I love the texture, smell and sight of a paperback nestled on my shelf.

Where do you prefer to buy your books?
Mostly online nowadays, but I still trawl a bookstore whenever I get the chance.

Are you a self- published (Indie) Author? Yes

What books would you like to read again? All the Harry Potter Books.

Is there a particular movie that you preferred over the book version?
Yes – The Hunger games. Never really enjoyed the writing style of this series but loved the movies.

Who designed the cover of your book? Patti Roberts – Paradox Promotions.

Do you find yourself intrigued by the cover of a book enough to buy it?
Mostly yes. It can be quite the draw card.

Do you have any advice for other writers starting out?
Remove your editor’s hat and don’t put it on until you have the story down.  Never sensor yourself – its spoils the organic flow.

Do you write under a pen name? No

Do you ever write in your PJ’s? Don’t wear them!

What are your pet peeves? Narrow minded people.  Melted Chocolate on white shorts. Running out of wine on the rack after the store is closed.

You are trapped on a tropical island - who would you like to be stranded with?
My amazing life and after life partner.

Pick one - Wine, Chocolate or shoes?
Wine!

Cats or dogs? Squirrels! – Sorry!

Tell us about someone or something that just made your day –
Running late and got a park right outside the supermarket door.

What is your favorite food and beverage?
Sausage rolls and Sav Blanc – kiwi of course!

How many hours per day do you try to devote to research and writing?
I aim for 4 but get anywhere from none to ten depending on my headspace.

What are 3 things you never leave home without (apart from keys, money and phone)?
Sunglasses, bottle of water and a bag of nuts on the run.

Sleep in or get up early?
Hardly ever sleep but on those are occasions, early bird. Although I’m convinced I was a bat in another life.

Laptop or desktop for writing?
Pen, paper then laptop – always in that order.

Your favorite gadget? Garlic crushers.

Where and when do you prefer to do your writing?
Mornings or late at night and anywhere from sitting on the bed, in the office or camped out on the beach.

Your thoughts on receiving book reviews - the good and the bad –
It’s a buzz for sure and makes it all worthwhile. I have no issues with bad ones provided the writer of it has actually taken the time to read the book in its entirety, given it careful thought and written it with a genuine heart. Constructive criticism is always welcomed.

Do you have a bucket list? Not really. I just like to try new things every day.

One of your favorite quotes –
“Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if only one remembers to turn on the light.” – Albus Dumbledore.

List 3 of your favorite movies?
Back to the Future, Harry Potter, Never Ending Story.

What is a movie or TV show that you watched just recently and really enjoyed?
Avid follower of NCIS. New season just started – whoop!

Where can your readers stalk you?
Facebook – 4 Fan pages – start by going to https://www.facebook.com/pages/MW-Russell/253137498083855

Is your book in Print, ebook or both? Both

Do you give free ebooks away in exchange for honest reviews?
I do it regularly, but it is sometimes hard to achieve.
