A message from Mike about those Those Crazy Tanner Kids

Mike from goodreads is looking for reviews on this Family friendly yarn.....

Those Crazy Tanner Kids: Door Knob to Broken Leg

Despite the best efforts of their parents, the Tanner children are crazy.

Grace, the seven year old, has a princess complex, Bobby, the five year old, can’t put his underwear on right, Stephen, the three year old, has been talking non-stop to anyone and everything since one and a half, and Jason, well, he eats anything he can get his hands on.

To add to the challenge, Marie and Jim, the mom and dad, have discovered that child number five is on the way. Not the way this family expected to finish its summer vacation.

Any takers? I can provide the novel in epub or pdf format. It is currently available on Kindle.

Reviews - book 2 - Paradox - Progeny Of Innocence

The Definition Of Progeny:
One born of, begotten by, or derived from another; an offspring or a descendant.
Every time your heart is broken, a doorway cracks open to a world full of new beginnings, new
opportunities.
* * *
Sometimes, the only soul that can mend a broken heart is the one that broke it.
For they are the ones holding all the pieces.

I wasn’t supposed to read this book until I finished two others I had in front of it. After a peak inside I was sucked in and finished the book in one evening. It was a little hard to follow at times, but the author did an amazing job with the characters.
I will be reading the next in the series. I want to know more about these interesting characters and original view on angels. I’m very curious what the future holds for Grace.
I rarely give five stars, but the fact that I couldn’t sleep until I finished it deserves it.

I liked Paradox. I was torn between 4 and 5 stars, in the end, I decided the quite original plot was worth five stars.
The plot is new, it’s different, it’s something that hasn’t been done before. Good angels vs evil angels. I read a lot of paranormal literature, so the paranormal elements were already a plus point. Combine that with the element of the angel houses fighting one another over power and mortals, and it truly made for a great read with a good twist.
I found the idea very interesting. It’s a perspective that was new to me, and I can say it might be even one I’ll embrace for the future because it sounds believable. However, it took me a while to get into it because the plot is very elaborate, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. There is plenty of world building which sets a good basis for books to follow.
I’m a sucker for elaborate world building, so that definitely hit a soft spot with me. If you don’t get into it straight away, keep on reading, and you’ll understand why the description’s necessary. It’s really worth reading on.
From the two parts of the book I preferred the angel part because it captured a new world view and perspective on spirituality. The writing was good with great description and good character development (particularly the little girl). I also found the action refreshing.
It certainly held my attention so much that I’m sure the plot was what kept me glued to this book more than the characters.
I would definitely get the next book in the series to find out what happens next.
If you like a fast-paced story with new paranormal elements and well-developed characters, you will surely not be disappointed. Thoroughly recommended. Buy the book here.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thoroughly enjoyed this book,
I wont get heavily into the plot as the other reviews do, as I don’t want to give anything away to spoil your enjoyment of reading and coming to your own conclusions on the book and plot. I agree with the other review in that you see a different side than you normally do to angels. Usually they are depicted all sweetness and light, doing only good deeds, whereas in this book we see some of the darker angels such as Abaddon ~ angel of destruction. Also Grace goes through flashbacks to past lives, so that i found an interesting part of the book.

Definitely worth the money to download.
I have sat and read this book in one day, and am eager and interested to find out what happens next in the Paradox series.

Up Close & Personal with Author - J.A. Campbell

Where were you born and where do you call home? I was born in Iowa City, Iowa but I now live in Fort Collins Colorado. I've lived in Colorado for eleven years and it is home.

What is the name of your most recent book and if you had to sum it up in 20 or less words, what would you say? My most recent book is Senior Year Bites a Young Adult Urban Fantasy about a girl who gets turned into a vampire her senior year of high school and still has to go to class.

Do you have plans for a new book? Is this book part of a series? I'm currently at work on the second book in the Senior Year Bites series, tentatively called Summer Break Blues. I am also working on the second Arabian Dreams book that doesn't currently have a working title. Arabian Dreams will be released in November. I have a ton of other projects too.

What or who inspired you to write? And how long have you been writing? I've been writing all my life. I'm not sure anyone really inspired me to write, but one day I decided I wanted to be a published author. I do know that my sixth grade reading teacher, Ms. Fox put the idea of being a published author in my head.

Do you gift books to readers for book reviews? I have sent books to readers for reviews before. Most of the time I pick established book reviewers.

How did you come up with the title and cover design? The cover design was the publishers. I honestly have no idea how I came up with the title. I named it several years ago.

Have you based any of your characters on someone you know, or real events in your own life? Absolutely. Bits and pieces of friends and people I know show up in all my stories, especially Senior Year Bites. I pull in events and other things as well. The main character for Arabian Dreams is directly based off of my own horse.

What books have most influenced your writing most and why? Hmm, I think the authors that have influenced me the most are probably my favorites. Timothy Zahn, Michael Stackpole, Kelley Armstrong, Kristian Britian anyone I read all the time is likely to influence my writing.

Is there an Author that you would really like to meet? Kristian Britian and Timothy Zahn.

Do you prefer ebooks, paperbacks or hardcover? I prefer mass market paperback. I love my ereader though and I will tolerate hardcover if I must. I don't like trade but I have made my peace with it over the last few years. Any of the other formats out there, I won't buy unless I am dieing to read the book and there are no other options.

Are you a self published (Indie) Author? I'm with two small presses right now. I have some novellas that I am going to self publish through a publishing company me and some friends created. Those will start coming out this fall.

Have you ever read a book more than once? OMG yes. All of my favorites get read multiple times. Some books are comfort reads, things I come back to when I need something familiar and comfortable in my life.

Is there a particular movie that you preferred over the book version? Not that I can think of. There are a few I like equally as much. For example, The Black Stallion is an excellent book and an excellent movie.

What book are you currently reading and in what format (electronic/paperback/hardcover)? I am currently reading Magic on the Storm by Devon Monk in mass market paperback. After that I need to give my ereader some love and will be reading a book on it.

Are there any new Authors that have grasped your interest and why? Tiffany King who just self published Meant to Be certainly has my interest. She's super nice on Twitter and her first book Meant to Be is a page turner. I read the whole thing in one sitting, couldn't put it down.

Is there anything you would change in your last book and why? oh man, I just got done making changes to it. LOL. um... there are a few plot threads I didn't tie up as nicely as I would have liked. I'd fix that.

Who designed the cover of your book? Dara England did Senior Year Bites, but S.N. Holl is doing Arabian Dreams and will do all of my Indy covers.

Do you have a book trailer? I have the pictures I want to use for my book trailer, but I haven't had time to actually make the trailer. I did do an "about me as a writer" trailer and you can find that on my website.

What are your thoughts on book trailers? I think they can be fun, but I've never bought a book or not bought a book because of them. I rarely take the time to watch them unless my friends link them to me.

Do you have any advice for other writers? Don't give up and write every day.

What is the best advice that you have ever been given when it comes to writing? Write every day.

Do you write under a pen name? I write under J. A. Campbell, which is really my name - Julie A. Campbell.

Cats or dogs? Both with a slight preference toward Dogs. (I have three cats and one dog)

Hi Liz, welcome to Up Close & Personal.

Bestselling Books: Expectations, What Money Can't Buy.

1. Where were you born and where do you call home?

I was born in Bethlehem, Pa and I call home wherever I happen to go to sleep for more than a month at a time.

2. What is the name of your most recent book and if you had to sum it up in 30 or less words, what would you say?

What Money Can’t Buy is the sequel to Expectations. It’s a dramatic continuation of the Taylor Twins’ story, involving love, loss, and the anticipation of parenthood.

3. If you gave some of your characters an opportunity to speak for themselves, what would they say?

My characters don’t know how to shut up. No, really, they’d invite you into their homes and ask you to listen to their stories.

4. Do you have plans for a new book? Is this book part of a series?

Yes! I’m working on the third Taylor Twins book and I’m very excited about it!

Patti says: I hope you come back and share it with us when it is finished!

5. What or who inspired you to write? And how long have you been writing?

I’ve been telling stories my whole life to anyone and everyone who’d listen. And when no one did? I told them to myself. Kind of like trying to break into publishing. I started writing seriously when I was ten or eleven. What inspired me? Reading both good and bad books. I’d read a bad book and say, ‘I can do better’ or a good book would inspire ‘I want to affect people just like this’. Because a good book will touch your heart and ignite your soul.

6. Do you gift books to readers for book reviews?

Yes.

7. How did you come up with the title and cover design?

Expectations is about Matt and Chris redefining their father’s rules for them. What Money Can’t Buy came from a very emotionally driven scene when Chris is begging for something back and offering to write a check for any amount of money, but knowing that won’t help.

My cover art came from the brilliant artist at Lazy Day. All I knew going into Expectations was I didn’t want anything too sexual because that’s not what my books are about. For What Money Can’t Buy, we decided to keep continuity.

8. Have you based any of your characters on someone you know, or real events in your own life?

All of my characters are based on some facet of who I am, who I want to be, or what I’m afraid of. The events mostly come from my imagination. Scary, isn’t it?

9. What books have most influenced your writing and why?

The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton- This is the first book I read from a male POV and it made a big impression on me.

A Home at the End of the World by Michal Cunningham- introduced me to the concept of an alternative family and I really used his characterization in developing my own.

10. Is there an Author that you would really like to meet?

I’d be honored if Michal Cunningham would read my books. Someday.

11. Do you prefer ebooks, paperbacks or hardcover?

Ebooks.

Patti says: Me too!

12. Where do you prefer to buy your books?

Amazon.

13. Are you a self published (Indie) Author?

I’m with Lazy Day, a small digital first press.

14. Have you ever read a book more than once?

All the time. When I read paperbacks, you only knew I liked a book when its spine was bent in several places.

15. Is there a particular movie that you preferred over the book version?

I would say I enjoyed A Home at the End of the World’s movie equally. Probably because Cunningham wrote the screenplay.

16. What book are you currently reading and in what format (electronic/paperback/hardcover)?

Nether by Jason Beymer in Kindle format.

17. What book do you know that you will never read?

I’m not a fan of Tolkien, so anything beyond the Fellowship of the Ring. (Please don’t kill me for saying that.)

Patti says: Not to worry, I have had a few people say that.

18. Are there any new Authors that have grasped your interest and why?

I love new authors! I’m still a new author and so are a lot of my friends. We’re always cheering each other on. I really like Jason Beymer, though. His books are funny and meaningful.

19. Is there anything you would change in your last book and why?

As an author, there’re always things I could change, but overall I’m proud of my novels. Oh, on page 345 in What Money Can’t Buy, I forgot the word milk. Oops.

20. Who designed the cover of your book?

Lazy Day.

21. Do you have a book trailer?

Yes

22. What are your thoughts on book trailers?

You know, I think they’re neat if done right, but I’m not convinced they help sell books, at least they didn’t for me really.

23. Do you have any advice for other writers?

Trust yourself and your characters. You know your story best. Oh and please, please drop the word that whenever possible.

24. What is the best advice that you have ever been given when it comes to writing?

Keep going.

25. Do you write under a pen name?

No, everyone who knows me can find what I’m doing if they care to.

26. Cats or dogs?

Dogs
