Seduced bk 1 $1.99 - A dark vampire romance by Devyn Quinn

Closing her small bookstore is the end of a dream for Rachel Marks. With debt collectors calling and nowhere to turn, she knows she’ll have to do whatever she can to make ends meet. When a waitressing job opens up at the hottest club in town, Rachel figures she can swallow her pride and put up with it long enough to pay off her bills—as long as she can avoid her mysterious and devastatingly sexy new boss, Devon Carnavorn, a man who’s as hard to trust as he is to resist.

Devon is a fallen vampire, part of a clan who exist as outcasts from the world of the living and denied the pleasures of the undead. Forced to endure a meaningless and loveless eternity with no hope for reprieve, he is bent on self-destruction—until he meets Rachel, a ravishing woman who fires his passion for the first time in centuries and may be his one chance at a dark salvation.

As the two spar and tangle in the dark and decadent club, where sexual frenzy pulses in time with the throbbing music, Rachel finds her blood running hot for Devyn. He’s a masterful, creative lover, wakening her to searing physical pleasures she’s never imagined and desires so dark and dangerous her heart races every time they touch. But there’s a price for each shattering encounter, and with the promise of giving Rachel the ultimate ecstasy, Devon will demand the ultimate sacrifice.

About the Author:

Romantic Times Award Winning author Devyn Quinn lives in the middle nowhere New Mexico. It is so tiny and boring that the only thing enchanting about it is waving goodbye as you leave. Seriously. It’s that small.

To keep from going loco, Devyn collects and ride motorcycles. She is the proud owner of a Harley, a Honda and a Classic 2001 Ninja ZX-12R–which makes her the fastest, most dangerous writer on the road. Really. Devyn likes to go fast. Light speed fast. She will probably die in a massive fiery crash, but thinks she will enjoy herself before that final “oh, sh*t!” moment hits.

At least she has enough toys to play with.

But about the books.

Devyn has written a few. Well, okay. More than one, but less than 100. Some of those books –um, 2– have been nominated for the Romantic Times Reviewer’s Choice Award. Devyn even managed to pull off a win in 2010, for her 2009 erotic romance title, Possession. Demons? Check. Sex? Check. Everyone having a major nervous breakdown. Check, and double check. Readers can always count on Devyn to create realistic characters, and then throw them into the deep end to see if they sink or swim. Torturing imaginary people is one of her favorite things to do, and no one escapes unscathed. As for her readers…. Many have gone insane and scratched their eyes out…

Just kidding. Or maybe not.

Devyn is not married. Devyn has a lot of ferrets. Devyn leads a very lonely life, and the hot New Mexico sun has scorched her brain cells. She re-hydrates them with wine, but that isn’t always a good thing. Sometimes things can get a little…strange.

Devyn can type. Devyn writes about people and places that don’t exist (or maybe they do), and will take readers to some very dark places. Twisted, even.

(Oh, stop. You know you want to go there.)

Please help support Devyn’s odd existence by reading her books and sending her an email.

Books to read this Halloween

Halloween Witchwood Haul: Lots of witchy fun - Trick-or-treat!

Over $5 value for $1.99 just for Halloween.

Charmed By Witches: The day of his arrival in colonial Massachusetts in 1692, Desmond Harvey is befriended by four witches claiming to be travelers from the 21st century. Being a witch and practicing magic could mean the difference between life and death. Swinging by a tree branch with a noose around your neck was the death part. But there was always a downside to not practicing magic, too. When you needed it the most, it didn't work.

Going Home: The Craft meets Practical Magic - Orphaned at five-years-old, Alexandria Santorini learns she comes from a long line of powerful witches. Twelve years later, Alexandria is going home to Ferntree Falls to claim her inheritance - Witchwood Estate - the home where she was born, and where her parents were murdered. But something very sinister is going on in Ferntree Falls - something that will change Alexandria's life in ways she never imagined. For starters, her new best friend disappears in the sunlight…

Ferntree Falls: On her arrival in Ferntree Falls, Alexandria knows something is amiss. Not only does Andrew, her new best friend disappear in the sunlight, but someone Alexandria thought she could trust is trying to kill her! Perhaps leaving Catnip Cottage and the Barnabys wasn't such a great idea after all.

Cursed: Brought back from the clutches of death by a power she does not understand, Alexandria is focused on getting her life back to normal, whatever that means. With new friends, Andrew, Kat and River by her side, Alexandria lets herself believe that her future is looking promising. Things take a turn, however, when a handsome stranger arrives in Ferntree Falls, and Alexandria begins to wonder if his presence is a blessing or a CURSE.

Trick – or – treat: Some history and myths behind Halloween traditions past and present. Includes the history of brooms in witchcraft, candles, herbs, spells, and so much more.

Tabitha Ormiston-Smith talks, Patti Roberts, Paradox and the Witchwood Estate series.

The first time I met Patti, she was propping up the bar at the Writers’ Club. Well, actually we were both propping up our keyboards several thousand miles apart, but hey, an author’s got to have some licence, right?

We actually met on Facebook. We hit it off straight away when I assumed for some reason that Patti was American, and told her off for calling Australians ‘Aussies’. Patti showed her true class by refusing to take offence, and a long, rewarding friendship began.

Shortly after I got to know Patti, I lost my beautiful Deerhound, Beau. While I was grieving, spending much of every day in tears, writing morbid poetry and generally being a pain in the backside to everyone, Patti asked me if I would look at a couple of chapters of her current work. I was amazed at how much doing this helped me; I found the tight focus of editing made the grief and pain recede into the distant background for as long as I was doing it. I must have done ok, because after a few weeks Patti asked me if I would be interested in doing it for money. Practically before I could say ‘yes’, there were referral clients contacting me, and my editing business took off.

Since that time we’ve worked together quite a bit. I do editing for Patti and she does truly amazing cover art for my books. I have come to admire her so much, for her talent, her kindness, her generosity, her no-bullshit attitude, and her ability to deal with tossers without losing her temper.

I’ve watched with delight as Patti branched out into the hugely entertaining Witchwood Estate series. I get so excited whenever she tells me she’s starting a new episode! Really it’s like being a kid on Christmas morning.

As a writer, I am always in awe of Patti’s ability to describe a scene and bring it alive. Her gift for physical description is immense, and the Paradox series is richly visual, alive with light and colour. This is shown most strongly in her creation of different peoples in the Paradox world. In particular, the beautiful, delicate Bakhna Rakhna people and the mysterious, powerful Atnangker people (inspired by our own First People) give a wonderful depth to the books.

My other favourite thing about Patti’s writing is her tremendous gift for bringing the evil characters to life. Many writers make the mistake of taking their villains too seriously, and I think that is what makes Patti’s gift really special in this area is the way she always injects a little spice of humour. One of my very favourite villain scenes anywhere is in ‘Going Home’ (Witchwood Estate II), where the evil witch summons a host of cockroaches to nibble the calluses off her feet. In the instant work, coffee shot out of my nose when Pandora compared a nightclub full of teenagers to a sushi train. (You owe me a new keyboard, Patti!) If she ever decides to write in the horror genre, Richard Laymon must look to his laurels.

Readers of the Paradox series are certain to enjoy this new instalment, not least because the shock ending makes it very clear that there is more coming. I, for one, can’t wait.

Paradox - Equilibrium. ARC Review by: Tabitha Ormiston-Smith on Dec. 07, 2013 : star star star star star
I enjoyed this book very much. It's fast-paced and full of action.

One of the things I particularly enjoy about this author's work is its the visual quality; Roberts is brilliant at descriptive writing, you can see the colours, smell the smells. This series is well designed with a rich background. A less meticulous writer could have written the story without bothering to create in detail the beautiful, civilised Bakhna Rakhna people, the mysterious Atnangkers, and so on - but every corner is filled with exquisite detail in Roberts' work.
The other thing I really love about Roberts is her villians. She has a wonderfully light touch with them. You see the depths of evil, but you see it with a smile - there's always a leavening fillip of humour to offset the dark.

The only criticism I have of this fourth book is that it stops rather than ending - in my opinion a novel ought to stand alone as a completely self-contained thing. However, readers of today's series will be well accustomed to the series as serial, so I doubt if this will be a problem for most readers.

The Originals:

THE CW REVISED FALL 2013 PREMIERE DATES
“The Originals” Now Premieres Thursday, October 3, 9:00-10:00 p.m., Following the Season Premiere of “The Vampire Diaries”

This is one TV spinoff that I am really looking forward to - although, I DO NOT see Klaus as a father figure ... but then again, he does have something very compelling about his nature that just may win me over in the end :)

Having just recently finished the 3rd book in the Witchwood Estate Series, I am all about witches right now. Hence the reason that I am looking forward to the "Originals". New Orleans appears to be teaming not only with Vampires, but witches, too! Cant wait to see what witchery these new witches drum up to keep Klaus and his family on their toes.

I have to say that my favorite "Original" is Elijah. Are you with me?

I am, however, a diehard Damon fan through and through from the Vampire Diaries. And an Ian and Nina fan, too. Very sad to hear about their recent breakup in real life. Can't help but wonder how that is going to go down in TV land for Damon and Elena in The Vampire Diaries season 5. Is somebody going to want to rip someone's head off for real! Or have their recent movie endeavors allowed them to move of from heartbreak enough to allow them to slip back into their much loved "in love" TV characters?  Time will tell...

Family is power. The Original Vampire family swore it to each other a thousand years ago. They pledged to remain together, always and forever. Now, centuries have passed and the bonds of family are broken. Time, tragedy and hunger for power have torn the Original Family apart. When Klaus Mikaelson, the original vampire-werewolf hybrid, receives a mysterious tip that a plot is brewing against him in the supernatural melting pot that is the French Quarter of New Orleans, he returns to the city his family helped build. Klaus’ questions lead him to a reunion with his diabolical former protégé, Marcel, a charismatic vampire who has total control over the human and supernatural inhabitants of New Orleans.

Determined to help his brother find redemption, Elijah follows Klaus and soon learns that the werewolf Hayley has also come to the French Quarter searching for clues to her family history, and has fallen into the hands of a powerful witch named Sophie. Tensions between the town’s supernatural factions are nearing a breaking point as Marcel commands his devoted followers and rules with absolute power. For Klaus, the thought of answering to his powerful protégé is unthinkable, and he vows to reclaim what was once his – the power, the city and his family. While they wait to see if their sister Rebekah will leave Mystic Falls and join them, Klaus and Elijah form an uneasy alliance with the witches to ensure that New Orleans will be ruled by THE ORIGINALS once again.

The series stars Joseph Morgan (“The Vampire Diaries,” “Immortals”) as Klaus, Daniel Gillies (“The Vampire Diaries,” “Saving Hope”) as Elijah, Claire Holt (“The Vampire Diaries,” “Pretty Little Liars”) as Rebekah, Phoebe Tonkin (“The Vampire Diaries,” “The Secret Circle”) as Hayley, Charles Michael Davis (“Grey’s Anatomy,” “Switched at Birth”) as Marcel, Daniella Pineda (“The Fitzgerald Family Christmas,” “Homeland”) as Sophie, Leah Pipes (“The Deep End,” “Sorority Row”) as Cami and Danielle Campbell (“Starstruck,” “Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Witness Protection”) as Davina.

THE ORIGINALS is from Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with My So-Called Company, Alloy Entertainment, Warner Bros.

And from Wetpaint -

The CW"s new show The Originals will premiere October 15, and now the network has a new promo so you won't forget the date. (Just how far in advance can we set our DVRs?) The promo is all footage from the backdoor pilot, which aired during Season 4 of The Vampire Diaries. A brand-new Season 1, Episode 1 will air on the CW in the fall, but until then, we have to take what clues we can from footage we've already seen. Hey, watching Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) and Klaus (Joseph Morgan) try to one up each other never gets old! Courtesy of Wetpaint
