Natasha Larry. Author of Darwin’s Children - Fantasy fiction series

Hi Natasha, thanks for being here.

Where were you born and where do you call home? I was born all over. As a military brat, I moved all over the place. Now I live in the South, best place in the world.

What is the name of your most recent book and if you had to sum it up in 20 or less words, what would you say? Darwin’s Children Is wholly unique experience for teen paranormal lovers.

If you gave some of your characters an opportunity to speak for themselves, what would they say? Sure, I can call in a member from the psychic vampire race. Layla Gray, the eldest known vampire in the world would probably say something like, “You are cute to want an interview, human. I’m surprised your race hasn’t died out by now, but of course, you have The Core to thank for that, don’t you?”

Do you have plans for a new book? Is this book part of a series? This books is part of a series. The first four are completed. My publisher is reviewing the second one as we speak.

What or who inspired you to write? And how long have you been writing? The people in my life inspired me to write the most. My family has always been in my corner.

Do you gift books to readers for book reviews? Yes, I do. There is also a contest going on as we speak at http://www.romancing-the-book.com/2011/06/interview-contest-with-natasha-larry.html

Have you based any of your characters on someone you know, or real events in your own life? All of my characters are loosely based on people I know, sometimes something small, like an expression I’ve heard them use or a personality quirk.

What books have most influenced your writing most and why? Comic books influenced my writing the most because I’m a total geek.

Is there an Author that you would really like to meet? Frank Miller

Do you prefer e-books, paperbacks or hardcover? E-books

Patti says: Me too. followed by paperback.

Are you a self published (Indie) Author? I am not self-published, but I used a small, independent publisher.

Have you ever read a book more than once? All the time.

Is there a particular movie that you preferred over the book version? No way, the book is always better than the movie.

What book are you currently reading and in what format (electronic/paperback/hardcover)? The Devil Made Me Do It by Amelia James, Caleo (Leech) by James Crawford, I Wish by Wren Emerson, and re-reading Tales From The Edge of Forever by Alexander Hammond for a book club. All electronic apart for the last one.

What book do you know that you will never read? War and Peace.

Are there any new Authors that have grasped your interest and why? Apart from yourself, because your series sounds like a must read, Thomas Amo, author of the Forsaken Series. Nova Sparks because she has incredible potential and she inspires me. I also look forward to reading K.C. Neal’s upcoming young adult novel, Pyxis: The Discovery.

Patti says: Why thank you! :)

Is there anything you would change in your last book and why? I probably would have ended it sooner, and made sure readers knew this was part of a series.

Who designed the cover of your book? Penumbra Publishing

What is the best advice that you have ever been given when it comes to writing? Don’t take rejection personally, its what happens to everyone in this industry.

Do you write under a pen name? All of my books are under my own name. I have written other things under a pen name.

Cats or dogs? Dogs.
