Jennifer Wylie was born and raised in Ontario, Canada. In a cosmic twist of fate she dislikes the snow and cold.

Before settling down to raise a family, she attained a BA from Queens University and worked in retail and sales.

Thanks to her mother she acquired a love of books at an early age and began writing in public school. She constantly has stories floating around in her head, and finds it amazing most people don't. Jennifer writes various forms of fantasy, both novels and... Read more at Amazon's Jen Wylie Page

What is the name of your most recent book and if you had to sum it up in 20 or less words, what would you say?

Sweet Light is a romantic fantasy-or fantasy with some romance. It is a story about love and making choices.

Do you have plans for a new book? Is this book part of a series?

I always have plans! My head is so full, stories leak out of my ears :D A sequel to Sweet Light has been written. It is called Dark Madness and I'm just waiting for some time to go over it again before submitting to my publisher. I've also recently finished a YA fantasy called Broken Aro. My short story series Tales of Ever is still moving along as well, I've two more instalments to complete-the fourth will be out sometime this month.

What or who inspired you to write? And how long have you been writing?

I've been an avid reader since I was very young (thanks Mom!). Writing just seemed to come from that. I started writing in public school, mostly short stories, and progressed into books in high school. I took a few breaks from writing here and there, when I went to university and when my kids were very small. Otherwise, I just have a need to write and to share my tales. :)

Do you gift books to readers for book reviews?

I have giveways on occasion, and also am happy to gift an eBook to a reviewer.

How did you come up with the title and cover design?

The title took me FOREVER. For all that I write, titles are always hard for me. Maybe I'm too picky. This one finally came as the story is sweet, and also the main character is often called versions of sweet as endearments by those who love her. The Light part of the title refers to her being young and innocent, and also her magical gift of healing.

Have you based any of your characters on someone you know, or real events in your own life?

Not really. Sometimes I will get a general idea, or come up with something while people watching. Mostly the characters create themselves. I get a lot of ideas from music as well...both the lyrics and the mood a song will put me in.

Do you prefer ebooks, paperbacks or hardcover?

I love paperbacks. I have thousands. And thousands. So I am really loving eBooks for the fact they don't take up space and I can read them where ever I am without lugging a book around.

Have you ever read a book more than once?

Oh yes! Some I've read more than half a dozen times. These are usually my most favorites, like some Pern books, a few Mercedes Lackeys, all Michelle Sagaras books, David Gemmell, Theodore Sturgeon...I have a very long list of favorites :D

Is there a particular movie that you preferred over the book version?

All of them. The movie versions rarely do the book justice. I prefer to see the movie first actually, as otherwise I grump the whole way thru 'THAT wasn't in the book!” LOL

What book are you currently reading and in what format (electronic/paperback/hardcover)?

I have 2 eBooks on my 'to read' list now. Eel's Reverence by Marian Allen and Expectations by Liz Borino, and a paperback Blood Trust by Eric Van Lustbader.

What book do you know that you will never read?

I dislike anything that is all true-- like biographies. I live life.. I want to use my imagination and follow a fun story. :) Fantasy books are my favorites, with at least a little romance of course :D

Patti says: Maybe you would enjoy reading my book?? Fantasy... paranormal themes... Ok back to your interview....

Do you have a book trailer?

That is on my to do list. Mostly I haven't done one as I've no idea where to start!

Patti says: One True Media - very good.

What are your thoughts on book trailers?

I don't know how useful they are.. but the good ones are pretty darn cool and I enjoy watching them!

Do you have any advice for other writers?

DON'T GIVE UP! Seriously, everything takes a while. There will be a lot of not so fun times. Keep trying and plugging along and for goodness sake DO YOUR HOMEWORK! Google is your friend, find out everything you need to know about writing, publishing, marketing, editing. It will only help you!

What is the best advice that you have ever been given when it comes to writing?

When my parents kicked my butt and said to give getting my work published a try.

Do you write under a pen name?

Nope, this is my married name :)

Cats or dogs?

Dogs! I have an Australian shepherd. Cats give me a rash. (Seriously)

Patti says: I live in Australia :) Australian Born and bred.

About the book:

When fate conspires against you and gives you three loves to choose from, what do you do? What if you make the wrong choice? Shara is a Healer, raised and trained from childhood until her unique gift manifests itself. When she gains the rank Journeyman she is hired to serve as the court healer for the barbaric kingdom of Glendor. Untrained for war, she is thrust unmercifully into its bloody arms when the kingdom is invaded.

Ordered by her king to the front lines to tend the wounded, she is forced to flee when their camp is attacked. Happening upon a wounded soldier in the forest, every mile back to the capital is a struggle, and breaking the Healer's code, she falls in love with her charge. If Shara thought that to be the least of her troubles, the appearance of a fierce warrior captain who appoints himself her protector, teaches her differently. Trouble comes in threes at the appearance of a former love and fellow healer. Faced with decisions of the heart and the sudden manifestation of her gift, there is little room for anything else to go wrong. Or at least that's what Shara thought.
